I’ve always wanted to make Man Tao, I always ate it as a child, so easy, so filling!

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 packet yeast (or 2 1/2 tsp)
  • 1 cup milk (warmed)
  • Optional: Flavor, I have pandan and taro

Directions:

  1. Warm the milk on the stove, just warm, do not boil. Stir in yeast and let it rest for about 10 – 15 min
  2. mix together all the dry ingredients
  3. In kitchenaid, put on the bread arm and slowly pour the milk and yeast mixture into the dry ingredients while mixing. when completely formed, kneed for about 5 min. If you want flavor, drop in some extract at this point while kneeing. I put in Taro and Pandan
  4. If you don’t have a kitchenaid, form mountain on your counter, create a crater in the middle of the pile, pour in the milk and yeast mixture, carefully mix together and kneed for about 5 – 10 min. If you want flavor, drop in some extract at this point while kneeing. I put in Taro and Pandan
  5. oil or spray a separate bowl, and allow the dough to rest for 1 hour at room temperature
  6. Roll out the dough to be about 1.5 cm thick, and roll into a log
  7. Cut to desired thickness
  8. Steam for 15-20 min

Enjoy!! Try not to refrigerate if you don’t want to resteam it again. It turns rock hard in the fridge or if left uncovered
