Homemade Japa Dogs! Okay, so no, I’ve actually never had a REAL one before, and this is probably the closest thing I can get to it. I just guessed what would be on it, and what would be good together and voila! It actually worked! I also made some nori chips to scoop the salmon poke onto.

Ingredients:

Japa Dog: Make 4 Dogs

Hotdog buns

  • 1 onion
  • Japanese Mayo
  • Teriyaki Sauce
  • 4 all beef hotdogs
  • 1 sheet of nori
  • seaweed sprinkles (found at any asian markets)

Salmon Poke:

  • Raw Salmon
  • half a cucumber
  • 1/3 chopped red onion
  • half an avocado
  • reduced soysauce (just boil soysauce and sugar 1:1 ratio and let it cool in the fridge)
  • 2 Sheets Nori
  • seaweed sprinkles

Directions:

Japadogs:

  1. Chop up onions into lines, and throw it into a pot to caramelize. When the onions start to turn translucent, add the teriyaki sauce. The amount is up to you to see how sweet you want your onions. Finish caramelizing when the onions become stringy
  2. boil the hot dogs and prepare the bun
  3. On the hotdog bun, just drizzle the japanese mayo (again up do your discretion on how much to add)
  4. place the cooked hot dog into the bun, and layer with onioins
  5. drizzle more mayo ontop and add the cut up sheet of nori on top and add the seaweed sprinkles

Salmon Poke:

  1. cube the salmon
  2. chop the avocado, red onion, and cucumber and combine with salmon
  3. add the reduced soy sauce
  4. add the seaweed sprinkles and stir everything together. Place in fridge to cool
  5. cut up nori sheets into triangles and bake for 5-7 min at 350 Degrees. Careful, they burn easily!

Enjoy!
