DIY Viet Bun (Vermicelli)


Vietnamese Dinner at home! I know Viet cuisine is relatively cheap, but the amount of salt and msg contained in the restaurants can leave you feeling really bloated and dehydrated afterwards.

To make Bun (Vermicelli):

Ingredients: Quantity is up to your discretion

  • Vermicelli
  • Springrolls (store bought)
  • Pork ribs
  • Basil leaves
  • Mint Leaves
  • Bean sprouts


  1. Fry the Pork ribs with a simple Soysauce or BBQ paste (Don’t over season this, the nuoc mam will give this taste later on)
  2. Fry the Spring rolls
  3. Boil the Vermicelli (this literally takes minutes, so try not to over cook it)
  4. wash the bean sprouts, basil, and mint leaves, Leave to the side as toppings

To make the nuoc mam (Fish Sauce): Quantity up to your discretion again, all depends on preference

Ingredients: Makes about 2 Mason Jars

  • 2 cups boiled water
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 5 tbsp Fish Sauce (the one with the picture of 3 shrimps on the bottle)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp chili paste

I make a larger quantity because I know my family will use this on just about everything


  1. Mix all ingredients together
  2. taste and adjust to your preference
